Serving Through Sport: New Wave Charity Padel Day 2025 Recap

At the core of this event was a cause that truly matters to us: Serving Our People.

Founded during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, SOP began as a rapid-response initiative to support people in crisis. Today, it has grown into Australia’s fastest-growing charity, built around one simple but powerful mission:

“To serve those in need, when they need it most.”

Whether it’s delivering meals to isolated individuals, offering emergency supplies to families doing it tough, or stepping in with practical support during unexpected hardship, SOP serves with speed, compassion, and zero red tape. Their work spans food security, mental health outreach, homelessness prevention, and more, always with an unwavering focus on community.

What makes SOP stand out is their on-the-ground agility. When a call comes in, they don’t refer it or delay it — they act. Their volunteers hit the streets, fill the cars, and get help directly to those who need it. From Gold Coast families in crisis to flood victims in regional towns, SOP is often the first to arrive and the last to leave.

At New Wave Group, we couldn’t be prouder to support a charity that embodies many of the values we hold close — action, empathy, and community-first service.

All proceeds from the event went directly to helping SOP expand their reach and continue their incredible work across the region. We know the impact will extend well beyond the courts.

The Event Experience

With team tickets at $198, participants got everything they needed for an epic afternoon:

• 🍽️ Delicious food for two
• 🍹 4x drink tickets per team
• 🎶 A live DJ and plenty of off-court entertainment

And let’s not forget the competitive spirit — with over $1,400 in prizes up for grabs, the stakes were as high as the vibes:

• 🥈 $200 Runner-Up Prize
• 👕 $200 Best Dressed Team Prize

From 3 PM until sundown, teams battled it out across the padel courts, cheered on by a buzzing crowd and fueled by great tunes and even better company.
